Darrell McGraw

As a Director for KPMG LLP, my primary role includes shaping and capturing new opportunities across the defense and intelligence agencies. In addition, I’m engaged in developing functional strategies and campaigns across KPMG’s federal market cluster within analytical and technical arenas to include integrated cost estimating, data transparency and mobility. As a Senior Associate with Booz Allen, I lead a team of 30 staff across the Federal Government -Defense Market. I’m a certified Program Management Professional (PMP) and Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP). I also hold a BA in Economics and a MS in Information Systems Technology. I have over 15 years of program management and analytical analysis expertise, eleven of which have been spent at Booz Allen Hamilton. I specialize in the areas of project controls, earned value management, risk management, integrated master scheduling, statistical analysis, data analysis and performance measurement. I have been instrumental in implementing customized and ANSI standard EVM processes and procedures for major defense programs. I implemented and led training sessions for senior executives instructing them on best practices in project management and performance measurement reporting to ensure the delivery of products and services within budget and schedule constraints. As a business developer and entrepreneur, I have strategically won and managed over $65M worth of work across multiple defense markets. In my spare time I’m the firm’s coordinator for recreational sports and enjoy pending time with my wife and two daughters.

I was born in the small town of Warren, Ohio, one of three siblings, or what you can call the “middle-child.” My father was in the United States Army, so I traveled the majority of my life, and for the most part was known as a “military brat.” At the age of 13, I learned what it meant to be self dependent and to work to achieve the things I wanted in life. I started my first job, bagging groceries, at an army base commissary in Seoul, Korea. As I continued to work, I gained an appreciation for hard work and learned to become a responsible man contributing to my family in times when my father was away. The first thirteen years of my life were filled with movement to different states and countries every two years. Throughout these years, until my family finally settled in Gaithersburg, Maryland, I learned the meaning of ethnic differences, diversity, networking, perseverance and change. The experiences I faced, led me to be the person I am today.

I have always been an entrepreneur and continue to come up with ideas and solutions. I’ve worked for four of the top consulting firms in the world such as, Accenture, BearingPoint, Booz Allen Hamilton and currently KPMG LLP. I began working at Accenture after the completion of my undergraduate degree in economics from the University of Maryland at College Park. I quickly learned about the fast-paced nature of the consulting environment. I gained the practical knowledge of accounting, finance, budgeting, and business development. Additionally, I continued to establish client relationships. I moved on to BearingPoint where I was able to establish an expertise in earned value management and project control capabilities. I learned through my experiences at BearingPoint that a person can “know a lot about a little, “ but it is better to be an expert in at least one area. This notion remained true as I took a position with a small consulting company, Houston Associates to increase my technical skills. I was then recruited by Booz Allen Hamilton where I expanded my expertise and quickly promoted up the ranks. I’m currently working at KPMG LLP as a Director in the Federal Advisory practice and excelling as an executive leader.
